About me
Zhiying, Lu, Ph.D, Microbiologist & Computer scientist
I'm currently a researcher at University of Alabama at Birmingham(UAB), involving in the "Microbial Social Networking: Co-evolution of Bacteria and Algae in a Changing Ocean"project led by Dr. Jeffrey Morris. The overall goal of this project is to quantify the evolutionary and ecological stability of the Black Queen interactions impacting the open ocean microbial carbon cycle. I am trying to answer how climate change affect the evoluation and destiny of marine microbes through experimental and bioinformatics technique.
Before I moved to UAB at Jan 2020, I was a postdoc at Duke University under the supervision of Dr. Zackary Johnson, where I worked closely with members from other 10 university and private industry partners to develop technologies to produce food, feed and fuel using algae.
My interests also include using machine learning and deep learning to optimze biological system design and conduct image recoginition in digital pathology. Please check my detailed resume and curriculum vitae right below the picture. Download Resume/CV below
